Santa Cruz Engagement Session: Caitlin and Pat

This engagement session is special for multiple reasons.

Caitlin and I met years ago in college when we were getting our degrees in photojournalism.

She probably has no idea but I actually felt pretty intimidated by her and her work.

Caitlin was this young, hip, super cute girl in class who had a crazy talented eye and passion for photography. Every time one of her images would go up on the projector I found myself a little envious but more motivated and inspired to make great pictures.

If you would have told me then that I would be photographing her wedding in 2018, I would have laughed out loud from fear and disbelief.  She also doesn't know that I was a nervous wreck when we initially talked about working together.

So imagine how excited I was when Caitlin and Pat told me they lived in Santa Cruz and wanted to do an engagement session up there!  It was a dream.  Not only did I get to spend an incredibly fun 24 hours with an old friend but I got to photograph this darling couple in some of the most beautiful places Northern California has to offer.

The icing on the cake is Caitlin's appreciation of the medium so it was especially fun to share in the excitement and giddiness the day the scans came in.

I can't thank them enough for trusting me to document their love story and I am counting down the days until their Napa wedding.
