Styled shoot: same sex wedding - Fairmont Hotel Santa Monica

If I could just make a career and pay bills doing all styled shoots, I would.  There is something so satisfying about getting together with a group of your favorite vendors and creating something beautiful.  No timelines, no creative boundaries... just a fun, relaxed and inspiring environment.

When Jacqueline of EDE by Jacqueline contacted me to do a same sex shoot at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica, I couldn't say no!

When I arrived to the venue and met our couple, I knew we had crossed paths before.  After a short conversion, I realized that I had photographed an event they attended two years prior.

There's a funny story about manifestation here and I seriously hope they don't think I'm crazy should they happen to read this.....

Back in 2015, I photographed a corporate holiday party and I specifically remember hearing this adorable couple share their engagement story and future wedding plans with some of the other guests.  I was excited about the opportunity to introduce myself and say "hi, I'm actually a wedding photographer, please hire me!!"

That night I may or may not have purposely taken a few extra photos of them in hopes of naturally striking up conversation.

But sadly, fear of rejection set in and I chickened out.  Instead, I left without saying a word and regretted it instantly.

Fast forward to 2017, this real (now married) couple modeled as our two grooms for the shoot!

Imagine my excitement when I figured this out.  It was also a great reminder not to be driven by fear and reach out for the things I want.

The only thing worse than being told no, is not knowing what really could have happened.

I'm grateful for this opportunity and excited to share a few favorites from this shoot with the amazing team listed below...
