Santa Barbara Courthouse Elopement & Intimate Los Olivos Wedding | Jess & Matt
What do you do when you live in one of the most sought-after destination wedding locations in the world—but want something quieter, more intentional?
You choose a Santa Barbara courthouse elopement, and then gather your closest people for an intimate celebration in wine country.
A Quiet Morning at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse
We met just after sunrise on a soft spring morning, when the courthouse still feels quiet and tucked away from the usual energy of the day.
Golden light spilled over the clock tower, wrapping everything in a warm glow and creating the most beautiful halo around Jess and Matt. It was calm, unhurried, and deeply present—exactly what they wanted their wedding day to feel like.
Their civil ceremony was simple and meaningful. No distractions, no pressure—just the two of them stepping into this next chapter together.
From Santa Barbara to Los Olivos
After their ceremony, we drove through the rolling hills of the Santa Ynez Valley toward Los Olivos—one of my favorite places for intimate weddings in California.
Tucked into the landscape was Camp Carmina, a private estate that feels both expansive and personal at the same time.
It was just Jess, Matt, their sweet pup, and a small group of their closest friends and family.
An Intimate Wedding Dinner Under the Oaks
Dinner was set beneath a sprawling oak tree in the meadow—effortless, elevated, and completely in tune with the landscape.
The table design was soft and romantic:
A floral embroidered linen
Neutrals layered with muted pinks
Exotic florals woven into the setting
Nature-inspired dinnerware
As the sun began to set, everything slowed. Conversations lingered, glasses clinked, and the entire evening felt like an extension of the intention they started the day with.
Effortless Style, Thoughtful Details
Jess wore a delicate lace gown that moved beautifully in the evening light, while Matt’s olive green suit complemented her perfectly and felt right at home in the natural setting.
Nothing felt overdone—just thoughtful, personal, and true to them.
Why Couples Choose a Santa Barbara Courthouse Elopement
There’s a reason so many couples are choosing to elope in Santa Barbara.
It’s not just about simplifying the day—it’s about creating space.
Space to be present.
Space to connect.
Space to actually experience your wedding instead of managing it.
Without a packed timeline or the pressure of a large guest list, the focus shifts back to what matters most.
A More Personal Way to Get Married
As a Santa Barbara elopement photographer, these are the kinds of days that stay with me.
Not because they’re elaborate—but because they’re honest.
I get to see my couples fully themselves: calm, connected, and completely in the moment. And that’s where the most meaningful photographs come from.
